How to Apply

MBACS is participating in the Apply Philly Charter online application system for the 2022-2023 enrollment season. All applications must be submitted online at

Lottery Process

Students are admitted to MBACS by lottery.  MBACS applies a preference to applicants with a sibling currently enrolled in the school.  Applications received by January 24, 2022 will be entered into our lottery.  The 2022-2023 lottery will be held at MBACS on February 9, 2022 at 9:00 am.  Families are not required to attend.  Students not admitted through the lottery will be placed on a randomly generated waiting list.  Any applications submitted after the lottery will automatically be placed on the waiting list in the order they are received.

Lottery Results

Lottery results will be sent via email or by first class mail (when email is not on application) on or before February 11, 2022 and include students’ status (i.e., accepted or wait listed). If a child is wait listed, their place on the waiting list will be included in the letter. A phone message will also be sent to all applicants alerting them that decisions are being emailed. Families can also check their status by logging in to their Apply Philly Charter account

Enrollment Process

If a child’s application is drawn during the lottery, the parent/guardian will be required to submit proof of the child’s date of birth, proof of residency from the current year, immunization records, affirmation statement, and a home language survey to MBACS by March 11, 2022 to secure the child’s place.

In addition to the required documents, MBACS also requests that parents complete an enrollment packet.  The enrollment packet will be sent to all students once they have been accepted, and includes:

  • Introductory Letter to Parents/Guardians

  • Enrollment Checklist

  • Demographic Information Sheet

  • Affirmation Statement

  • Charter School Student Enrollment Notification Form

  • Emergency Information and Treatment Form

  • Home Language Survey

  • Request for Records

  • Evidence of Enrollment

  • Photo Release Form

  • Pennsylvania Information Management Systems (PIMS) Form

  • Physical Examination

  • Dental Examination

  • Proof of Residency (Any one of the following eight items constitutes acceptable forms of proof of residency: a deed, a lease, current utility bill, current credit card bill, property tax bill, vehicle registration, driver’s license, DOT identification card).

  • Proof of Age (Any one of the following seven items constitutes acceptable forms of proof of age: birth certificate; notarized copy of birth certificate; baptismal certificate; copy of the record of baptism – notarized or duly certified and showing the date of birth; notarized statement from the parents or another relative indicating the date of birth; a valid passport; a prior school record indicating the date of birth.)

  • Current Immunizations

  • Report Card or Transcripts (to verify grade placement)

If a parent is unable to secure all documents in the enrollment packet prior to March 11, 2022, the child’s place can be secured by contacting MBACS and indicating their intent to enroll. If a child’s enrollment packet is not received by the deadline and parent notification of intent has not been made, MBACS makes at least two attempts to contact the parent prior to moving a child to the waiting list. MBACS does not delay enrollment if a missing document is not required by law.
