FAMILY LETTER REGARDING REOPENING
March 22, 2021
Dear Bracetti Community,
We are quickly approaching the end of a unique and unprecedented year for our students, families, and staff. Despite all that we have faced, new pathways and possibilities were introduced into our learning program at MBA, and students and staff rose to the challenge. We continue to be in awe of the resilience, strength, and flexibility of the entire Bracetti community.
As of this week, Philadelphia County remains in the High-Risk category (red) based on the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Weekly COVID-19 Activity Report. In September, we began the 2020-21 school year with three goals in mind:
To ensure our students had access to new technology that would support our rigorous virtual program.
To establish stability and consistency for students and families, and avoid shifts in hybrid and remote instruction that would intensify learning loss.
Most importantly, to keep everyone in our school community safe.
Today, our goals remain the same. For that reason, MBA will continue to implement virtual/remote instruction for the remainder of the academic year. It is vitally important to no longer be in the high risk category for significant spread and for all staff members to have the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccination prior to transitioning to a hybrid learning model. The vaccination process for MBA staff will not be complete until May 3rd at the earliest. Additionally, we want to ensure our students continue to make strides in their learning and are free from the inconsistency that a hybrid setting will bring to classrooms, families, and teaching staff so late in the year.
We know the hardship this causes for families and caregivers. This decision was made after careful deliberation, thought, and review of data. We thank our students, families, and staff who remain patient and understanding while making many sacrifices. In the coming weeks, we will announce summer learning opportunities for students and plans for graduation.
We look forward to continuing our work together to support the academic achievement of our students.
