MARIANA BRACETTI TO PURCHASE NORTHEAST CATHOLIC BUILDING

Mariana Bracetti Academy Charter School (MBA) has purchased the former Northeast Catholic High School building in Frankford from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

MBA, currently located at 2501 Kensington Avenue, opened its doors in 2000 and serves 1,155 students in grades 6-12. The selection of the Northeast Catholic High School building as the new location for MBA reflects a decision to remain close to current MBA families. Approximately 65% of MBA families reside in the zip codes of 19134, 19124 and 19140, all bordering the Frankford neighborhood. “We went through a thorough and long process of selection and we are excited to move into a site with such rich history while still being able to educate our current complement of students,” said Virginia Neiswender, Chair of the MBA Board of Trustees.

Students and staff will remain in the current building for the 2011-2012 school year and it is anticipated that the new facilities will open in time for the 2012-2013 school year.
