Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Students:

It seems like just yesterday I was writing to welcome you to the new school year. It is hard to believe that we are now approaching warmer weather. As our students prepare for greater academic challenges, they also continue to build and develop MBA’s sense of community.

Students and staff at MBA have been focused on increasing student achievement and further developing pride in our school. As our seniors are receiving their college acceptance letters, the rest of our high school continues to prepare for the day when they, too, will apply to college. As all of our students strive to do their best academically, our sixth, seventh, eighth and eleventh graders are also preparing for the PSSA math and reading exams. Our eighth and eleventh graders will also take the PSSA science exam. In preparation for this high-stakes testing, we have a number of exciting events and activities including pep rallies, student breakfasts, advisory competitions, and Saturday school. Please remember to review the April calendar when your child brings it home from school, as there are a number of special attendance days.

It is certainly an exciting time to be at MBA. Beyond preparing for testing, our students continue to show pride in and love for their school. Three of our basketball teams have made it to playoff games, and our first baseball team will open its season this year. We recently held our first annual talent show, where members of the community gathered to watch and to judge our students’ performances. It was truly a “family” event for us, as many of our students and staff brought their loved ones to enjoy the show.

Anytime you are in our building, even before and after the regular school day, you will have the joy of seeing an MBA student working, playing, or contributing to our school. Whether they are catching up on schoolwork, volunteering to assist staff members, playing sports, participating in clubs, or preparing for our next school-wide event, MBA students treat our building as their home. I am proud of the culture we have created throughout the years.

Please feel free to contact me or your child’s assistant principal with any questions or concerns, or if you would just like to introduce yourself to us. I can be reached at extension 261 or by e-mail at jsomma@mbacs.org

Sincerely,

Jana Somma
